The Newcomer-Tournament is happening. See for example

here
here
or here.

As stated before, the aim of this tourney is to introduce new players and teams to the NSL. Every community needs new blood to stay active and fresh. I hope the Newcomer-Tournament receives much interest and help by the whole competitive community, since it serves us in the end as well.

People have asked me already, if help is needed and what they might do, which is great! And I hope more to come.

In fact everyone of us has the possibilities to help making the Newcomer-Tournament a succes. Don't believe me? Read further!

If you are a Referee

The Newcomer-Tournament runs on NSL-Rules plus a few rules on timeliness. We are happy to welcome any Referee from the NSL to bring his experience and time into the tournament as well.

The Newcomer-Tournament is also a good place for you to try out this job. Just fill out the below form.

Become a Ref

If you are a Caster

We want to cast as many games as possible on the Newcomer-Tournament. This requires casters of course. If you want to see the teams of tomorrow first-hand, give us your availabilities on the below form. We are going to assign casters and refs to the matches, as soon as we know the exact schedule.

Become a Caster

Also, if you are a caster mention the Newcomer-Tournament on your cast and help us advertising!

If you are a Server-Admin

We need promotion! As Server Admin you are in the perfect position to advertise the Newcomer-Tournament on your rig. Be it a Message of the Day or regular lines of "Join the Newcomer-Tournament".

Make them curious, spread the word!

As someone, who likes to teach NS2

We need trainers, mentors or however you want to call them, check this post.

If you can't do or want the training times offered by TAW, you can also use the Steam-Group to offer your training directly to the participants.

If you know potential players

Needless to say: Tell them! But you can also do more! Gather them, try to bring "your" team into the race. Organise them, help them register, coach them and let's see how far your team can make it in the tourney!

It would be nice to see every larger communtiy bringing in a team to this - we are currently working on our TAW-team for the Newcomer-Tournament already.

If you are "just a guy"

You can still help us! Spread the word, tell your friends!

Maybe you know a frequented board an advertisement for the Newcomer-Tournament would be well placed? Tell us!

You have a ressource or material at hand, which would serve newcomers? Post it in the Steam-Group!

Push the posts in UWE, reddit, and Steam, even if you just say "nice idea.". Create hype and buzz!

Don't forget to tell people in other multiplayer-games about this pretty cool FPS/RTS-Hybrid and that there is a perfect opportunity to try it out, very soon.

This is no solo-project. It is our tournament, it serves us all, by bringing new and more players into competitive play.

Awesome initiative. I will promote this on The Thirsty Onos servers. And I can provide NSL server(s) and a TS3 server if you want.

As requested, I've created a new subforum under the GENERAL list for this tournament.

I can't move posts, so you might want to copy this one over too.

Alright, I am currently checking back on casters and refs. It's an estimate still, but it seems like we need at least one more caster and one more ref.

If you are interested please fill in this:

Help as a Caster/Ref in the Newcomer-Tournament

It all still depends on the sign-ups. They close tomorrow night. But at the moment it looks like we could have ten to twelve teams. Which makes 15+ games :)
