Hello people,

I was watching a lot of streams in the beginning of this season but after the first weeks I couldnt find any updates to the current season. It seems like everyone lost interest in what was happening at some point.
I even checked the profiles of some casters on twitch but most of them havent casted in a while, so that I found like 1-2 matches a week.

What happened there? I mean you can find almost every game of the first 2 weeks, a lot of games from week 3-4 but hardly streams later in the season. Is it because the outcome was pretty obvious at that point? Do we need more active casters?
I noticed that I am losing interest if I am not getting updates on what is happening and I am pretty sure that more people would be actively following the season if there would be more information available.

Didnt some people talk about doing some kind of weekly show to sum up what has happened the last week? I think that was a great idea but never has been done unfortunately.
I think it would be much more exciting if you get more information on what is happening. More people could talk about matches, seasons and predict what is going to happen.
At the moment I am only seeing the scoreboard and my thoughts on it is like "ah ok diy won".

What are you thoughts on the topic guys (and girls)?

Do we need more active casters?

We are always in need of active casters, mostly because a lot of our casters also play on teams. So if a lot of teams have matches on the same day, we end up with 1-2 or no casters on that night.

Another thing is scheduling in Division 1, They are behind because of their lack of planning which I already warned them about and if their matches aren't played by the 24th, the non-played matches will be forfeit and the playoffs for division 1 will start.

Division 3 and 4 finished group play and are starting with playoffs this weekend, well depends on when they schedule the match.

We gonna make sure all playoffs matches will be casted at the very least. Some ideas you pointed out are quite nice but the manpower is needed to do so. Which we don't have right now. It's also up to the community players to keep those forums alive. Anytime a forum post is worthwhile, it can be added on the weekly newspost on the front page. Bring us something interesting, we'll do the rest.

I personally stopped updating the replay threads for a couple of reasons. I had to deal with exams which kept me off from this kind of stuff and once I came back and got more time, I felt (let's say it) a bit lazy to update all those posts. In addition, as you mentioned, there were less games being casted. Meaning the 'need' of those threads is pretty reduced.

It doesn't mean nothing is going on. There's simply less activity but all the casted matches show up on the right sidebar whenever we get one. Most people in the staff have to face their duties in university, school and whatever else at the moment. I gotta admit the lack of official updates (CDT-wise) does not help. But anyway, season 7 should be way more interesting in my opinion.

I enjoyed the replays in the first 3-4 weeks as well. I think most were being casted, but it took too much effort to document for one person

Would be good if ensl.org could better store and surface casts. If anyone has ideas on how to do this, I'm all ears - will try to get it implemented without bringing everything down

1. Recruit more responsible staff. People that can step up and help you. Most importantly when you are away.

2. Make it as easy for yourself as possible, while giving maximum exposure to the casts that are actually there. You do that by making weekly newsposts including matches and casts, the two things that surely attracts most people to the site, dont hide it away on the forums. If you only do that by-weekly, it really becomes a big tedious amount of work. When you on the other hand do it every week, it should only take you 30 minutes to an hour or so to do a post including the planned upcoming casts. You should update the newspost more frequently though as new casts gets planned, those edits won't take you more than a few minutes and are much easier dealt with. But in total that is a lot of work for one guy, I should know, because I did it by myself. Do it as a team, else it will take over your lives.

How about people just do it them selfs without being called upon? No need for staff, its a community thing after all. So if you wanna have a list of replays: make one.

Things doesn't happen by themselves - hbz vs titus has been open for days. When I started I would have considered killing for that match, because when I started, new casters were not allowed to cast the top divisions. But noone took it. Now I'm taking a small step back in to ns2 and reinstalled the game to cast this upcoming match.

If the administration wants matches to be cast, find someone to cast it. Even good matches like this some should not be passed by. The interessting is not what the score it going to be, but how it is going to happen. And if the thrill of seeing some complete badasses taking simple elements and then making a beautifull, thrilling and powerfull play of Natural Selection 2, can't make you excited and make your brain tickle just the right way, you're missing out on something. It should be clear to the administration, and i know for sure it clear to Pelargir, that you can't just expect people to cast.

What happened ? a lot of players simply stop playing ns2. But the most anoying thing is that the last prem div players made a new team together so they can stomp every single team.
Instead of joining people and teach them how to play they stayed together, even if they never play or speak together outside of ns2. Just look at the post on PCW, it's : "so forfeit ? thanks for easy point" ( hey Herakles, it's for you) . Just a lame practice for lame players overall.

That's what happens when the best players group up in a 9+ player team to win every single game before they uninstall the game.

They will troll with "salty"/"prem div hate"(if this is a thing ?) or other childish comment, but really there is nothing more than easy win for ego boost.
Just remember that these same players cries for more team in their group for season 6. Yeah, they cry because not enough teams wanted to get stomp by these lazy players. Like they cried for balance change 1 year ago (and killed the game for new players ?).....

The sad thing it's they all left in season 6 and they won't be here to answer or see the damage they have done. And the few left will have their ego blind them.

PS: This will be most likely my last post, even if it's a negative one ns2 was a lot of fun for me and i have a LOT of good memories on this game

Generalizing people to same group is always fun! Those all evil premier players are the same! That kind of thinking makes you blind in many things in this thing called life. Trying to understand why people do what they do is always more productive action instead labeling people. For example you said in your post that I (because of you said all prem players) cried balance changes one year ago. Well, I don’t know what balance change you are referring to but I for example wanted to take totally different balance path that comp mod took.

Where is the reasoning behind this? Why do you think we've come to stomp teams? Mere comments on match pages don't justify anything. People are losing interest in the game and that has been happening for more than a year.

Tinki says

People had every opportunity to learn: from gathering with good players to just asking them for tips. The former seemed to be nullified considering that people just didn't want to listen at all. The latter required common sense in which only a couple of individual players actually went ahead and asked plus a team. You could've even asked some to drill you.

Again, it's always us, isn't it? There has always been 6 players in our team. The substitutes were never needed, so one of them has been actively trying to find a team with no avail. We stayed together because we had fun together. Isn't that the whole point of having a team?

Irony.

I don't remember such a thing happening. We accepted the fact that there won't be a premiere division. Quite the opposite happened - people complained because we were grouped in the same division as them. I don't understand where the mindset of "getting stomped" comes from. By playing the better team you inherently become better.

Cried =/= made the changes happen. There was little to no involvement as far as I know from premiere teams with the exception of Titus.

There was an outcry a year ago that premiere teams never practiced against lower div teams, however the mindset changed to the opposite.

That was titus afaik. There was a prem div with diy, titus, shaft, ryan and lucky chams in discussions. But because it was foreseeable that ryan would not show up that division was too small for titus, that wanted more games, hence the giant div 1. Thats how I remembered it. But having a four team division is not so fun either.

I can comprehend where tinki is coming from. Once diy was formed, it was clear that they where gonna win every match. So thats kind of annoying for some players.
On the other hand I understand that people wanted to play with friends and/or people on their skill level.

While we are on that topic of spreading the skill:
Lome mentioned that his team was thinking about joining different teams for the ladder to spread their knowledge. I don't know if they are gonna to it, but I think thats a nice idea. So if your team is not playing in the ladder, think about joining another team for the off-season to help them improve!

All the premiere players are bad, confirmed by Tinki.
Torch them.

Dude - You dont know. Your statement is untrue and half of it just silly. Personally I had for a long time been in communication with TAW and trained them (and still do from time to time) in playing ns2 alone and as a team - vindaloo even streamed it. RAWR (div 4) has also inquired about my help and again i said yes, and when i pulled people like Zafod and Herakles in to assist, they came and did above and beyond what they should have. Zafod have been helping TAW alone too, as has herakles. Wob has been very vocal on making very thorough analysis, which are available to every one on ensl.org. I have been mercing for Radical because their comm was unavailable for quite a while. I too have been helping United Lowbows, who you can now find in the div 4 finals. Not to mention the whole idea behind twitch.tv/thesingingskulk is to bring analysis and the beauti of some gameplay into the light - small critical details, helping to create an avalanche of advantages, which go unnoticed unknowingly by many other casters, although some by choice.

All they did was ask. And we ansvered. And we continue to ansver.
