What is NSLTV?

NSLTV is the official channel of the NSL. It currently has almost 300 viewers and had been inactive for a long time. You can reach it here:
www.twitch.tv/nsltv

We want to reactivate NSLTV as a place for a variety of NS2-casts and for advertising your own channels.

The goal is to cast official events of the NSL on NSLTV - either hosted or via a streaming key (see below) - that might be ladder/seasonal games or tournaments. Additionally we offer to host your NS2-related streams in the meantime.

To have an overview when NSLTV is live our calendar-widget was upgraded (thanks simple!). Like before it shows the upcoming matches, but additionally you can see any casts scheduled for NSLTV below it. By this you can see at a glance, if NSLTV is live right now or when it will be live the next time.

How to use it

Currently there are 3 people able to setup the stream for you: Pelargir, Prommah and tudy.

There are two methods for you to use NSLTV. The first is via streaming key, the second via the /host-function of twitch. They differ in terms of notification sent to followers, where recordings are saved and interaction between you and NSLTV.

Streaming Key

For any official games we would like you to stream directly on NSLTV. For this contact one of the above and get a Streaming Key. This is used in your broadcast-software (like OBS). The key is temporary, so you need to request a new one for each cast you make.

Using NSLTV directly with a streaming key will lead to the recording/highlight being saved on the NSLTV-account. Further followers of NSLTV will get notified by email, that NSLTV went live.

You can host NSLTV on your own channel (see below) to reach both viewergroups: the ones following NSLTV and the ones following your own channel. However, if you want the followers of your own channel to be notified by mail, you should start a short stream on your own channel, before you exchange the streaming-key and go live with NSLTV.

/host Command

You can host another twitch-stream on your own channel via the "/host CHANNELNAME" and "/unhost" commands directly in the chat of your channel. For example, if you want to host NSLTV, you type "/host nsltv", after logging in. Your channel will change and display something like: "Now hosting NSLTV" and it goes live, whenever the other channel goes live. You can not save other's streams in your highlights by this.

To stop hosting another channel you just type "/unhost" in the chat and your channel goes back to normal behaviour.

We would like to host as many NS2-streams as possible with NSLTV. If you are doing a stream and want NSLTV to host it for a larger visibility just contact one of the above admins and they will type the host-commands. As explained, there is nothing you have to do on your side, except for contacting one of the admins beforehand.

If your stream is "open-ended" please make sure to contact the admin again and note him, that you are done, so he can unhost your stream on NSLTV.

How to get into the Calendar

If we know in advance we can promote your cast (hosted or via stream-key) in our calendar-widget on the frontpage of ensl.org. The important line is: "If we know in advance", so ensure to contact the admins early.

You can also make a post here, but by doing so you rely on an admin to see it in time.

Priorities

In the rare case, that multiple casters want to use NSLTV at the same time, there is a loose ordering on what gets priority. From highest priority to lowest this is:

* 3rd Person Cast: official matches (Season, Tournament, Ladder)
* 1st Person View: official matches
* 3rd Person Cast of inofficial matches (Gathers, PCWs, mixes...)
* 1st Person View of PCWs or other related streams (for example: map-creating, tutorials)
* 1st Person View of Pub-Games, mixes, Gathers

As said, this is a loose priority and in the end its the admins, which decide on what fits NSLTV best at a given time.

With all of that being said, let's fill the program! Follow NSLTV and happy casting!
