Alright its the time of year we start setting up the next season. I will be creating Signups later. These won't end for a while since we haven't decided on a date to start the season yet but that isn't what this post is for.
I'm asking the community to decide on some maps to remove/add to the pool, mostly because there was a custom map cup not too long ago(although there weren't many teams in it).

(a) The maps in the current season’s regular rotation will be:
(i) ns2_biodome
(ii) ns2_descent
(iii) ns2_jambi
(iv) ns2_summit
(v) ns2_tram
(vi) ns2_veil
(vii) ns2_nexus
(viii) ns2_mineral

#1 through #6 will stay.
What are your opinions on nexus and mineral, remove them or keep them there?
and any other maps you want added? like caged, docking2 or something else.

Wouldn't argue with mineral staying for now (just hoping it won't get too many changes DURING a season)
Wouldn't really like nexus to stay cuz reasons
I'd almost say we should think about caged being put back into the map pool...? Is it still being worked on? If so, could the creator maybe change the map to what it was ~ 1 year ago? Map felt better back then...

mineral is fine it should stay
nexus has potential but I think it still needs some work. at the moment it's stale and only gives you very limited options on how to play it. So as it is I don't want to see it for s7

caged is a good map but in my opinion just not fit for competitive play. (11 RTs and stuff)
prison would need some changes before you can even consider playing it competitively
fracture... I don't know. ask the guys who played it
and I would love for docking2 to be in s7 but I am the last person to decide on that^^

mineral should sty in the pool, i really like it
nexus on the other hand should be removed imo

caged with 11 rts isn't good
prison and fracture dind't convince me in the custom map cup, didn't play the other maps though.

i like Mineral this is one of the best maps. Nexus .... a good map also i want to see Caged in season 7, but 11 RTs too much. YES, and remove Descent

Mineral should stay, its a good map.

Docking2 should be in season 7 imo.

Caged has 11 RTs so imo isn't a comp map, maybe others disagree (but from reading the above, they don't seem to)

I like Nexus, i'm all for it staying, but only if the mapper is willing to make alterations throughout season 7 like he/she did during season 6.

I'd like to remove descent too.
Nexus and mineral OK.
Also I vote for include caged, docking2 and fracture from custom map pool.

Well, the vents are the main reason why I don't like descent. Someone make a version without cheesy vents leading directly into marine base, and I'll happily play it.

Hey if you want to change descent to make it more balanced, feel free to because you have that free time:)

Thanks for your input, this will be an ongoing discussion and I will also be talking to the other admins about this in further detail at our next meeting where we will also finalize at least some stuff for Season 7.

I always loved descent myself but some of the vents were yeah... a bit weird. some almost useless and some were insane.

About caged, I'll talk to flate and see what he thinks about it. Heard people say 11 RTs is too much so i'll talk to him about that, see if he can scrape one off:)

Mineral is a good map imo and it should stay in the pool.
Nexus, I can't say what but something is bothering me on this map ... maybe too wide. However it has potential !

What about derelict ?
I'm surprised no one talked about the new map we have now. Maybe cause it's already buried as a "non comp" map.

I couldn't play derelict since release but from what I heard it is marine favoured at the moment due to lack of vents. Give CDT some time to adjust derelict and we'll see I'd say

I think we should keep every map thats playable in comp. Why reduce the variety?
The problem with descent is mostly that its rarely played.
But that gives an edge to teams that train on it and pick it in the playoffs.

I feel you bro but as balanced as it is in high level play but in lower divisions that is alien biased already is a marine victory close to impossible. Infact I am working on the descent changes at the moment. It's your choice in the end if you want to stay at the current descent or not

Totally understand bud, but as meph said, in lower divisions, descent is alien biased... its just a free alien win unless you seriously outskill your enemy on the field.
But fear not, going over a few changes with meph, the only thing that would ever be altered is vents... and he will try to keep functionality to vents and have reasons for them... but to reduce the effectiveness of base rushes via them.

Edit: Might as well add also that I am pro for mineral to be in the map pool. Unsure about nexus because I have not played it enough.

Thanks for the support on Mineral guys, it does indeed warm my heart. I haven't had a lot of time to give it any updates in the past couple of months, but these comments from people wanting it to stay in rotation definitely adds to getting my motivation back. I'll try to put in some hours on it next week, giving it some face-lifts mostly on details.

And don't worry Bauer, no changes(other than maybe some details if I feel like it) during the season. Last season I had some deadlines to keep in terms of uni project work, which is why the changes were made back then. If huge issues are spotted during the season I guess something could be done about it, but not if it's something very drastic!

As far as my right to vote for anything related to the map pool, well it doesn't exist because I don't play anymore.

I agree with SaveMe man, why all the crying about Descent vents? If you change all the vents you might as well remove Descent and add Biodome in for a second time.

It's not like every descent match is a constant base rush, you can play around it.

Without any change, don't change descent.
I want mineral to stay, after the latest changed I think Nexus should stay too. If I want to add any new maps, it would be docking2. I am really on the edge about fracture, i like the layout, i ilke the flow, i hate the unfinished (I hope it's unfinished) textures on walls, every fing room and corner looks same, I am getting lost when dodging as lerk. Maybe more playtime would help. Idon't like prison or derelict. Caged is just not fun to play for me, cant put my finger on it.

So I vote:
keep nexus
keep Mineral
add docking2
add fracture

no caged
no prison
no derelict

Meph has uploaded to the steam workshop an altered version of Descent... Now I know a lot of people don't like the idea of altering/losing descent, But would people PLEASE just TRY the altered version. You may be pleasantly surprised and actually enjoy it... and if you enjoy it, and it balances lower level play more... why wouldn't you want the changes?
