After many discussions with Jiriki about how to restart the competitive scene we have come up with a few ideas.

1. Restart the league - It would be like the old days, signs up for 1 week however the rosters would remain open for the season for new players to join, a team would need to 'bye' completely before it's roster could move to a new team. Each match would consist of 2 maps and the match would need to be completed within a 6 week period (depending on number of teams). We would take a casual approach to games played, if a team wanted to play 3 teams in a weekend they would be allowed.

2. Night Cup - We would run the night cup with an elimination bracket. We could also run the night cup along side the league giving players more competitive options. Run the night cup before the league, this might give us an idea about the current player base. I feel that running a night cup first will make player and team retention more difficult.

3. Create a Nations cup first - I don't have much to say on this as most of us know how this works. The format will be the same as the night cup.

I feel now is the time to restart the competitive scene and the public scene. We have a good player base with the gathers and the numbers are growing.

But on a more serious note, I think you forgot one type of a format(on which I highly like and suggest) which would be called a gather cup in which anyone is free to sign up and you'd have some players signed up as a captain who then pick the teams. This format was used a lot on UT4 instagib community and it worked pretty well in there.

Details on how the teams would be picked are up to discussion since in NS commander and lifeforms create a bit of a hassle but don't think it's too big of a problem but it needs a little thought work. But in UT4 people signed up and they had certain price(this was determined by admins/hosters of the cup) and the more better/valuable player you were the more pricey you were, and then the team captains had certain amount of equity to purchase their players. The picking was done in one night. Also leftover players would be put in the free-player-pool which then could be used for substitutes if someone was unable to attend, so replacing a player was pretty simple.

The good sides of this format are that everyone gets to play and it's more likely players are actually going to play(=cup runs smoothly which is highly important) since the pool consists of mostly active players. Also the team forming becomes much simpler because you don't need to ask your old pals from 2005 would they wanna play or not, and then have them give vague answers that the schedule relies on. But most importantly I feel like not many/all players that play the game at the moment in gathers have some old pals that they'd get to play with and not many of them are willingly to form teams by themselves either - but that's just my opinion, I might also be wrong in here.

And most MOST importantly I think this would do the best for the community alongside with maybe a successful league(which I highly doubt would be successful in terms of scheduling and running) since it lowers the ceiling for new/not-so-good players to participate, and therefore you might get some new active players to play gathers with in the future.

Also what comes to the other formats that you suggested, I highly dislike anything that lasts more than a weekend(=league style) because people tend to get bored and scheduling is a bitch, especially with not-so-active players. So whatever the format of this tournament should be, I highly hope it's going to be a weekend style cup, with double-elimination bracket.

P.S. the prizes of this cup should be cool trophy icons on the server plus discord and maybe on this site too!

Cheers and gl NS!

Í am up for anything. The website will be done for this.

Now that people are staying more inside I think it could be a good time to try something.

I think nations cup might bring teams that wouldn't otherwise happen, it would be fun to watch too.

Season might work, I don't know. I thought Jimmis convinced me a bit it might work.

Whatever you plan, make a 5$ to 20$ sign up fee. The winner takes it all.
