Hey there beloved nerds!

I am planning on buying myself a new computer and even though i am freakishly lazy and dont really know much about the components these days i let noway talk me into building it myself again .. DAMN IT XD !

Well anyway noway did help me out a lot but i thought a second or third opinion might not be the worst thing .. and also i did make a few changes to waht noway originally told me so ^^.

So here is what i plan to buy:

Mainboard:......Asus Maximus V Extreme, Z77
CPU:...............Intel i7-3770K
RAM:...............Corsair Vengeance 8 GB 1866 MHz
SSD:...............Samsung SSD830 Series 256GB
HDD:...............Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Graficcard:......Gigabyte Geforce GTX680OC, 4GB DDR5
PowerSupply:...be quiet! DarkPower Pro 10 1000W ATX2.3
CPU Cooler:.....be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2
OpticalDrive:....Asus BW-12B1ST
Case:..............Cooltek Xanthos

So here is what i would need:
1.)Do these things all fit together?
2.)The Case has the Power Supply on the bottom instead of the top .. anyone had problems with things like that?
3.)noway told me i can easily get the CPU to far over 4GHz with OC .. is the Cooler enough for that or do i need a few more in the case or another one on the CPU? .. any suggestions?
4.)I dont know squat about the producing companies(COrsair, Asus, Gigabyte) any concerns with the chosen parts?
5.)If you have any suggestions i am open to that:) .. but this is alrdy pretty expensive so maybe not go much higher when it comes to the price :) !
6.) If my research is correct the Z77 Chipset is ideal for overclocking .. if not tell me NOW PLS!

Last but no least:
Since noway was so nice to present me with NS2 i will actually try playing it .. my computer sucks so cant say much bout the game yet but i expect that with the sysstem above i can easily go for stable 100fps and a decent resolution right?

Thx for your opinions and suggestions every input is welcome and will be met with cruel sarcasm ^^ !

Greets EisTee for the most beautiful country in the world .. AUSTRIA !

P.S. I had to do the dots(...) because the stupid Forum wont let you make Tabs and removes Spaces.. GOD DAMN IT ! And even worse .. the Format you have while writting is completly different than the one you have when posted .. screws up EVERYTHING !

Why you need such a beast if you don't play games lately?

I believe Ivy and Sandy bridge CPU's run pretty cool even with stock cooling so the cooler you have listed should be alright. Mine stays low temperature with a 20€~ thermalright true spirit and the i5-3570k is overclocked 1GHz over stock.
Manufacturers seem OK. If you want to save money you could go for cheaper brands and it wouldn't really show in reliability or performance. 1000W PSU might also be overkill and unless you really want/need i7, you could go for i5 and save 100€ or so.

I think in NS2's case you might still be a bit disappointed with performance..

Personally I'd go with a prettier case ;)

Haha, looks like EisTee is gearing up for some NS2 - he might even get 50 fps with this!

This MOBO is good, unless you are worried about mATX factor (smaller) than usual ones.
CPU is good, Ivy are abit worse for overclocking at high Hz but it should be fine till 4.5Ghz or a bit higher. Also as Pizza said, you can save some moneys by getting i5 instead of i7 (biggest difference is hyperthreading
which wont benefit in games)
Getting this RAM is really just too much, as OCed PC works at 1333 or 1666 max, also you are paying a lot for all this cooling things and shit on them, which is useless.
SSD choice is great incase you have moneys for it, totally worth it
HDD is fine
GPU - I'd go for either ASUS or Evga, but that just depends on your taste (ASUS never failed me)
PSU - your choice is fine, but I went for Thermaltake one recently. And yeah, you can save some money if you'll take 800-875 one (even tho difference isn't that much)
CPU Cooler - seems solid
Optical drive - do you really need it?
Case - not sure, probably okay.

Sorry for the mistakes if there are any.

I would change mobo to this (if you don't need atx mobo):
http://geizhals.at/eu/748143

Memory, ns2 loves high memory MHz's:
http://geizhals.at/eu/825856

GPU, 680 is a bit waste of money:
http://geizhals.at/eu/?cat=gra16_512&xf=1439_GTX+670%7E545_Gigabyte#xf_top or even better http://geizhals.at/eu/?cat=gra16_512&xf=1439_GTX+670%7E545_ASUS#xf_top
Asus cooler is best at the moment.

+ you don't need 1kw psu ;) "Quality" 550W would be plenty

I have used 2500K@4.7, 3570k@4.7 and 3770k@4.5 and bigger cache will help but HT wont.
Don't buy sandy bridge ;)
While ivy bridge wont OC that much they have little tweaks and have 200-300 mhz advantage over sandy + a way better memory controller and PCI-e 3. Better memory controller and high memory mhz would be great for NS2.

Yeah, I fucked up with that, thought about http://www.asus.com/ROG/MAXIMUS_V_GENE/ for some reason.
Anyway, gratz with such huge purchase! Even if this PC will have problems with NS2, you'll be able to play pretty much anything else :)

I just changed my 4:3 for a new screen last week. I took a benQ XL2411T and I have to say its ok. It goes up to 144Hz (lol), and I dont seem to feel any delay. Once its calibrated the colors are fine. you just need to Gammahax for ns. It also helps if you want to use the FOV at max, wich is pretty awful with a 4:3.
