Demo Recording Guide

Demo Recording Guide

To prevent cheating to the extent that we can, we will enforce demo recording. Every player participating in ENSL official matches will have to record every match that they are playing, and the recordings must be saved for at least a week.

These recordings do not need to be uploaded unless requested by an ENSL Official. Generally an ENSL official will only request a recording if there has been a complaint or suspicion regarding a specific player. If you are requested to submit a recording you will have 1 week to do so. Failure to submit the recording will result in a penalty, specified in the ENSL rules.

  • Ok, so how do I do this?

Before you connect to the server you are supposed to play your match on you need to type 'record <filename>' in the console.
To make it easier for yourself (when asked for the demo) and for the admins that have to find a specific demo, the recording should be labeled "Week_vs_EnemyTeam".

So, for example: "record Week1_vs_Exertus".

You must start the recording before connecting to the server otherwise it will not record, and you must keep the recording active throughout the entirety (both rounds) of the match. After the match is completed you can type "stop" in the console to stop the recording.

  • Game crash/PC reboot/Other circumstances:

Whenever you exit the client by accident or on purpose or tab out of the game, you have to start the disconnect from the server and start recording again. For consistency of purpose name it as "week<Number of Week>", e.g. "week2". Later on you can change the name manually to Week_vs_EnemyTeam_after_crash.

  • Quick summary:

Step1: Start the game.

Step2Start recording by typing 'record Week_YourTeam_Yourname_vs_EnemyTeam' into console.

Step3: After you finish your game type 'stop' into console to stop recording.
