Well, I thought there is something fishy about NSL East/ Titus servers. They are all in the same location and I believe are provided by Wasabi. We used to have 80-120ms on East servers, similar to what NA guys have on Paris or London servers now. Few of the games we payed on NSL East, it was more like 140-180. So I did some research and if you look at bottom right there are the paths with what latency they add to the whole route:
If we take it form beginning, all is cool, looks like the carrier we get routed trough is XO with it's digest gateway in EU already, going to NY, but then there it goes to Michigan, which might be eastern time zone, but it's the added 20-30ms. Then the rest looks like local ISPs/Datacenters and we end up in Detroit. There is 2 points I could make:
1. XO as carrier sucks
2. Detroit is not really east server as London and Paris are "west"
But then I tried different ISP and main carrier is Level 3, which routes the shit all over USA before it hits Detroit again, similar range of latency.
So I checked the Kaneh's central servers and on both my ISPs I have similar or better latency than to NSL East servers. There is no routing all over the place by XO or Level 3.
So what is the conclusion? I don't wanna bash Wasabi or his provider for having shitty ISP partners and routes all over the place, but I wouldn't call them East servers and even if the routing is optimized, I don't think Detroit would count as East cause it's like 800km (or 500miles) inland. Any thoughts?
