While we're doing our best to seed all the registered teams in the best division, there is another issue that should be solved with the feedbacks from the community. Map pool and how it ties to matches.
1. What maps would you like to see in the map pool. We got the basic ones: summit, veil, tram, jambi, biodome, descent. Would you like to add others? (bear in mind #2 question) (Eg. Mineral, Caged, Docking2, Kodiak, Eclipse_v1)
2. Do you prefer set maps (and maybe spawns) for weeks or would you like to have more dynamic system with vetoes and map picks before the match or maybe as part of the scheduling. (Eg. Each team vetoes a map and then each team picks 1 map from remaining map pool.)
Be my guest, and leave any constructive feedbacks. Otherwise, we'll put Mineshaft and Refinery as official maps. :D

I for personally would like to see the addition of addition of ns2_nexus (formally nyx). The creator of map, Malpractice. Has put immense efforts into the creation of the map.
I aswell as a few others in this nsl community have also helped the development of this map. So i for one have watched and played on many pugs of this map. The map is balanced for 6v6 play and performs (performance wise) very well. The map is still being worked to this day, just now the development of the map is in the same stages of the map caged. Which is the visual overhaul portion of the maps creation.
With this being said, I believe that nyx will be a perfect addition to this seasons map rotation. And like I said already the map is balanced for 6v6.
And as for everything else keep caged&jambi in rotation but not kodiak please. Im sorry loki.

1. I would add caged and mineral. (I aslo actualy liked docking2 but still needs some work)
2. I have specific opinion on this:
In Starcraft, in Counter Strike, you always had this. Veto map from map pool, pick map from map pool. And i would like to see that in NS2.
Pros:
+ Teams can have home maps
+ Teams can have special strats based on the home maps
+ Teams can veto map they hate or they feel would be weak on
+ Teams can metagame and try to play at the weakness of the enemy
+ Gives another dimension of out of game strategy
Cons:
- Some maps might not get played at all or less than others (is that a teams or map fault tho?)
Would be interesting to see home maps like Caged and Descent when team can specialize on the less played maps and use it in their advantage or focus on weak maps of their opponent.
I am for maps to be chosen before the match when people get on the server. Brings some tension already and might be interesting for the viewers.
I would feel that teams gravitate to play on the more balanced maps and "bad" maps would be weeded out.
And last but not least fuck forced spawns with something very spiky.

Just go with Mineral :D
And yes why not try a more dynamic system with maps pick just before the match.
But btw pls no mineshaft.

Either fix kodiak or remove it, to fix it, take away a few vents + remove the weed plants that's been put everywhere
and on question 2: I vote for this "like to have more dynamic system with vetoes and map picks before the match or maybe as part of the scheduling. (Eg. Each team vetoes a map and then each team picks 1 map from remaining map pool"
I want mineral in season 6. The idea with a home map is interesting but I am afraid to see a summit, tram combination like 70% of the time. I don't want kodiak in the map pool. I never tried nexus... should take a look at it..
refinery can be a competitive map if you replace lavafalls with 3 different rooms in my opinion (well and move one lava falls RT to the north west side)

Veto system could be very interessting. But I am really torn about caged. It is still very hard, if not impossible to hold a line for the marines, and if they want to hold the line, they lose the entire northside of the map. Marinespawn simply isn't up to par for a competitive play IMO.
Kodiak has similar problems and i would not like to see it in the map pool. But all these things can easily be avoided with a veto system.

i'm sorry but for me it's not a good idea. Why change?

I would just like to give my two cents (as the mapper) for nexus.
I designed the map with a competitive mindset and have reworked practically every area several times over based on competitive player input and game flow. This map has fixed spawns, 4 techpoints and 10 rts.
Room layouts and geometry are designed for more advanced competitive engagements.
The map design is unique in that it presents a 'double middle' lane. Some players may be uncomfortable adjusting to this concept, however, it forces quick rotation and subsequently increases the tempo of game play. There are also no magic phase gate locations- only tactical ones. Terrain and rt placement have been carefully considered in attempting to balance combat and map control for each team.
I am always open to suggestions and would be happy to make any necessary adjustments to make the map more enjoyable for competitive play. Thanks guys

Nexus/Nyx has played pretty well the last couple of pugs I've played on it. It's been playing better than the current version of Caged and certainly is better than Kodiak.

I would love to see Nexus for the next season. We've poured a lot of hard work into it, and its layout is new and interesting. It'd be great to continue to support it for the season.
teams r fine

We pugged it a few times and it went well. So I don't see an issue with it being added.

Docking2 is a really fun map once you know your way around it. Always felt pretty even sided playing with div 3 and under, more people should try it!

If you do the drop-drop-pick-pick method, you could have maps like Nexus and Caged and Kodiak available for play with less bitching. The teams can veto maps they really don't want to play. It would be a neat idea. Might get a little complicated with the custom maps, but surely it's do-able.
Would you limit the map pool down to like 5-6 maps each week? Or have the entire pool open for the season?

I think the veto system would cause some maps to be played way more played than others. I don't want to play summit/tram/jambi/veil all season. So I vote to keep the current system of predetermined maps, for the sake of true variety.
I'd also love to see eclipse and caged be played.

This kind of veto system is generaly a good idea but imo this could lead to the same maps played over and over again and I don't think that would be that much fun.
With prepicked Maps per week this is not likely to happen but this also forces all Teams to play the same map per week so maybe some variation between divs could be possible, something like div 1 is playing different maps than div 2, 3 and 4.
As for the mappool I think standart maps are ok but I haven't senn those other maps beeing played and don't know 'em so I'm not able to say something for or against them but variation is generaly a good thing to break up monotony.

Then more banns - do it like SC does it. In their best of 3 format they have a mappool of 7 maps, 4 maps banned, and then they pick the order of the 3 last maps. Or maybe just 4 bans all in all. That would make sure that you could counter ban against the enemy team. I think CS:GO does it similare but with a mappool of only 5 maps? (cannot remember ^^) Or maybe, as proposed above, have a smaller mappool each week. These measures would seemingly make short work of any map being overly played.
I honestly think that a best of 5 points would be interesting this season. two maps on both sides, if they 2-2 on those maps, they have a 3rd map, with only 1 round to play. That would make seeding have larger effect on the playoffs.

I changed my mind about the veteo system. The maps should be set before and use the veteo system during the playoffs
