Yeah, fuck that guy.. for real.. I mean clearly he is so stupid that he just makes changes based off single rounds and very specific scenarios and not anything that ever betters the gameplay as a whole.
Really great analysis of what he's done for the community over the years. 10/10.
It's really clear that Lerks underperform when played well, we should totally buff them for no reason (Or because Fades are slow).
If you actually took the time to look at Fade, it still plays at the same speed and the speed clamp is unchanged at 25.
You guys fucking blow my mind.
This thread was meant for legitimate feedback, if you can't even be bothered to verify your arguments with actual facts behind them, why the fuck are you even posting?
Good job, you might have killed one of the good things we had in the league.
man i don't even know where to start with this, but a personal attack seems to be in order: tinki, you seem like a mechanically skilled FPS player but strategically inept, please refrain from spreading your garbage ideas and one dimensional viewpoints.
anyways, i'm not going to break down every variation of build orders in this game because there's no way i would reveal to you my expansive set of secrets i've accumulated over the past 54 days.
briefly, i would just like to highlight that these two build orders you've mentioned:
are in no way the only two viable build orders.
marines have fast pgs with mines/hand grenades which are map/spawn dependent
aliens have a tremendous variation in what they spend their opening 60 res on, going through the various permutations of fast hive no biomass vs fast hive 2 spur vs FASTFAST hive 2 gorge. or the advantages of: 2 spur vs 3 spur and when to get your 3rd when going 2 spur would be only the tip of the iceBERG of how many different variations there are. (OH AND WE HAVENT EVEN MENTIONED if we are getting CRAG/SHADE @ the start or just CRAG or SHIFT CRAG or WHIP CRAG. MAN There Are Just So Many Options
anyways let's just pick out one change, and think about its impact:
so, if you even BOTHERED to look at the CHANGES in comp mod revision 5, you would have noticed that the BABBLER CHANGE of giving them 11 hp (instead of capping all damage to 5) created a nuance in how marines want to open up their arms lab build order in the beginning. if you KNOW your opponents are going to be using babblers throughout the early game you might want to go W1/A1 (since 11 dmg lmg pops the babblers in 1 bullet.) this small change also PUNISHES The CURRENT Meta build of going A2 first before W1 (SINCE EVERYONE IS GOING SPUR HIVE NOW, W1 is not as important vs celerity skulks (1 bullet difference in killing a skulk)). this REVISION 5 BABBLER CHANGE has already introduced a new tech path for marines while also increasing the viability of a previously underutilized/underused component of the game.
anyways @ dragon, comp mod is great, and the only reason ive stuck around for the past 54 days playing ns2 is because of it. if only i had the chat logs of ALL the ns1 players i've raved to about how comp mod makes me feel like im playing Natural Selection, when asked what im doing playing Natural Selection 2
Hey guys, give me 60k USD and I'll hire a full time guy to balance this game to CS:GO standards.
He will never ask for your feedback. Never release his beta mod to the community and release it whenever he feels like it.
Usually with extremely broken shit in it. But hey, he's a professional?
Keep your trash BM crap to gather and match if that gives you a boner, but take that away from people giving their free time and skills to improve everyone's quality of life.
Enjoy the fact you actually have the possibility to provide your feedback, and have the decency to respect their work in the way your word it.
I don't even blame dragon for his reaction. Sadly, it fucks everybody else over.
Alite, I hope you're trolling. Yeah someone do this, oh he's from that country, so blame the country. Even if it's a troll, It's such a bad one. Consider yourself warned, I'm just tired of that kind of post. Seriously what is the purpose of your post? +1 for your post' counter? Tss.
I would apreciate if people can have decent arguments in this kind of topic. We really don't care if you like or not a change. We care about the "why" you think that way.
Tinki, if you are really thinking that way, just provide solid evidence of what you are saying, without that, it's just random says with a solid intent to troll.
Phone, if you want to spamm this thread(or any other) again, there will be some consequence. Consider yourself warned too. It's not a dick contest, using caps or repeating/copy-pasting the same thing don't render your args more valuable.
You guys just proved to us all that we can't have a public debate on what's going on with the Compmod. Because you are a bunch of kids who needs to be supervised.
I wish to add a last thing, there is a very big difference between having ideas and designing them for all. For the latter there are not so much people who are capable of doing it.
For everyone, let's take a quick look to the forums rules and read it again.
Bauer I don't care about your personal vendetta against me, stay focused on the topic please, Tinki is not spare of what ever you think. Just read my post. And if you want to say something to me, use the private msg system. Your interpretation made me laugh though. Even when you were a mod you tried to manipulate the turn of events to the directions you thought it was best. Just look where it led you.
Everytime stuff like this happens I feel embarresed for being part of this community.
And to contribute something useful:
I would support an all out overhaul and like the changes.
If you want exos as early rush option and lategame option, how about a uptrade? Allowing people to buy a stronger more lategame oriented exo version which is significantly more expensive?
I know this sounds like vanilla single and double exo ...
Let me first link you to the forum rules. I just had to delete about 15-20 posts because some of you cannot behave like a mature adult or stay on topic. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the current changes to CompMod Rev 5, anything unrelated is worthless. If you feel like you cannot participating in an online discussion about this game, click away. Posting something like "Rip Exos" does not contribute anything to the conversation. I also feel embarrassed by how some people in this community act. When one or two people derail an entire discussion by trolling, it makes people wonder why they even bother trying to help out. And please don't act like innocent bystanders, because when you respond to those people, you validate their trolling and it again leads away from the actual purpose of this thread.
So with that being said, let's continue to give meaningful feedback on the changes in CompMod. Dragon has re-uploaded his mod to the workshop, so let's be a little more respectful and not take for granted what this mod means to the NSL.
I will be banning those from posting that cannot follow forum rules. And we don't need worthless "+1" posts or anything related to the posts I had to remove. Just move on.
(Sry Lome but I still want to say Dragon's work (because what he does is a normally paid job) on this game is vastly under estimated (the "code for free" other guys too).
If people grossly knew the hours him, Mendasp and some others gave for free they might be less inclined to troll here.
Knowing that, asking for changes always felt a bit disrespectful to be honest.)
So on topic:
I still believe fades are under powered, Wob and some others think a HP boost would help.
They are good at killing but have basicly no "staying power", 1 SG full they are out.
I feel PGs have been OP for a long time, you don't even need good rotations to hold one, just hide, focus the skulks on it, gg PG still up (might have to do with the fade structure damage), I mean should you even really need a full team fight to take one down when they are so damn cheap?
Maybe make them more expensive? Less armor?
And lastly if you still have some of those ballsy changes you talked about multiple players would probably be much interested in testing them. (compmod style tests, real 6v6 good teams etc :) )
The idea of nerfing PG sounds reasonable to me. Boosting Fades structure dmg wouldnt be a good solution though, just think of the res-biting power they would have. Reducing the armor of PG's would be a good way to nerf them I suppose.
At the moment it seems to me that fades aren't really playable without celerity. Thus teams are kinda forced to make shifthive as their starting hive.
For example enzyme making hydras shoot faster and being able to shield structures a bit, i don't know about hallucination, but it would be fun to see a marine go into a room, and see 3 tentacles attacking him at once while he tries to figure out which one is real and doing the real damage.
This could grow into a new mechanic, it would make sense with the tech pace because the drifter abilities are unlocked with the type of hive as well.
The idea of compmod was to constantly make the game more fun and fresh with every step of the way. I feel like version 5 is playing it way to save and not really making the game more fun.
I would recommend bigger changes, do a big overhaul that causes a new metagame and new strategies/tactics to arrive. Then adjust it accordingly.
There have been plenty of really good ideas how to start this overhaul but lack of confidence to push them through.

Balancing and making gameplay changes is hard work and very time consuming. You should show some respect to the work that has been up til now and keep this thread as troll free as possible.
while I still support the idea of a complete overhaul, I think people are complaining about that making compmod far too different from vanilla which makes joining competitive really difficult.
And they have a good point there. I think an overhaul of that kind is best when it starts from UWE
I assume they would then need to reload? If you were to add this then exos would need a very fine tuned ammo count to last long enough. This could either make exos incredibly easy to crush or raise the skill cieling in a good way.
Fitting this with the higher firerate and damage change would be very intresting to see.
This is why compmod should just go its own way instead of sticking to much with the vanilla tbh.
Players that are interested in competition will come and learn how to play the compmod if they really want to play that way. More casual player won't come either way.
It's not a good sign when good changes are being removed because of how vanilla is doing things.
