Probably not. Overwatch reminded me that you can get in a fun game or two in 40 minutes.

I honestly don't know if I will play competitive anymore... it all depends on if mods are going to be so heavily relied on and if the PDT are still going.
it seems i'm one of the few comp players that really likes the changes that are being made, either way, I won't be playing overwatch competitively, or paladins, or battleborn etc... NS2 is the only game that offers a commander spot, which is why I love it so much... no other game offers that.

I will almost certainly get overwatch, add me at Starcetereus#1283. Overwatch may not be as complex as ns2, but overwatch is actually fun, which is the point of playing a video game. Ns2 is just 90% stress, 10% fun nowadays. Pubs are shit, gathers are shit, the only things that are kind of fun are matches and scrims, which usually only happen once a week. The recent instability caused by UWE and dragon merely gave much of the community, who I'm sure felt the same way, a good reason to leave. So gg rip ns2 it's been fun.
Probably onlywatch, the TF2 style game-play, and being built to accommodate consoles isn't my cup of tea, but it should be fun for at least a few months.
Gigantic was probably my favourite of the upcoming shooters, but the netcode (high ping) was just too awful to play on in the early beta, not sure how it plays now.

Nope, no next season cause this game is just pure utter stress somehow, its a game run by developers with brains size of a fucking monkey that just learned how to hold a spoon. The framerate is the worst thing ive experienced.hitreg? Oh think the devs forgot that it's something needed in a FPS oriented game.
To summarize it real quick, it's like an circus where you somehow think animal cruilty is a fun thing to abuse with. And we're the fucking cattle to be abused at!
Cya if there will be a ns3 with a engine thats not dated back to the first century when 56k was represented.

Battleborn and Overwatch.
I'm enjoying battleborn's gameplay more but overwatch is great for jumping in a game and playing rather quickly.
Season 9 is close
Season 9 DELAYED
Season 9 finally starts
Season 9 Matches are up!
Season 9 Paused
What a rollercoaster it was ! Although newcomer tournament was a huge success.

Based on how the PDT has essentially been screwing over their current community in an attempt to get new players into the game, I can't get myself to continue playing it, competitively at least.
Never thought I'd say this, but the game was better off without them, don't think I've ever seen this many retarded decisions being done in such a short amount of time. GG PDT.
Overwatch seems fun though, add me! (Alite#1468)

I never believed to say this but I do agree with mega here. You all start drama about nothing (compmod is down while it can easily be reactivated using the steam branch). Where is the problem with doing that? Also where is the problem to keep playing the season in vanilla?
Now overwatch beta is released and soon available to buy. No idea why all of you guys start playing that now like CS:GO and dirtybomb in the past. I don't think it will have a much different effect on ns2 anyway.
I kinda expect most of the guys return after a couple of weeks knowing that overwatch is not ns2.
But now here is the fun part: There are 2 possible ways this can turn out:
1. Competitive scene returns and everything stays the same (more or less) and we have our status quo.
I would like that
2. NSL dies of and no one will play competitive at all
I would like that aswell
NSL needs to die for ns2 to grow accordingly imo. The guys I read most of on these foums are just toxic and unhealthy and are not able to see the bigger picture, so they complain about every change that is happening to the game that makes their experience less fun for a while.
I personally love 6v6 competitive play and hate the ns2large servers. I don't enjoy them. But if someone asks me on how I thikn ns2 nees to develop to grow and get a comp scene of decent size up then I say go for ns2large servers. Make sure people on those servrs have the most fun time. When this is achieved a competitive gamemode can branch out. (I doubt that PDT will go that way though)
Anyway right now we are at a point where whatever happens to NSL is better than what we have now.
In case you decide to stay then pls do everything you can to support PDT. No matter if what they decide and implement semes like a good or bad idea, give it a chance, try it and give CONSTRUCTIVE feedback.
In case you guys do leave once and for all to play overwatch instead then I wish you farewell and thx for everything you contributed to the game. It's a shame you left but I won't miss you.
@Mephilles
What ??? makes no sense to me either. This is what I understood :
"I think comp player will return, i want comp players to return. I don't want comp players to return. I like comp. I hate ns2 large. I want ns2large. PDT doesn't want ns2 large. we should support PDT. I like you. I don't like you"

Meh, after 14 years of this shit. am pretty much done.
See you Sunday :D
@bicsum: the most important thing to have is a large playerbase to build something ontop of it. We don't have one (okay we have but only a quite small one that plays at th same time) so we can't implement a matchmaking that would work properly for example.
To reach a large playerbase we should support what statistically most players of ns2 enjoy since this is most likely representing what the market wants. Appearently those are the wooza servers. (To clarify ns2 is split into alot of communities who all have a different idea on how the game should develop and play in the end. That's why we have people fighting over such a small change as faster ragdoll disolve and that's why everyone want a toggle for everything).
Another problem that is commonly known is the steep learning curve. The new tutorial and rookie only servers help with that but after the first couple of hours until they are out of those rookie only servers they will hit a brickwall of stuff they need to learn to play effectively. The rookie phase is just enough to get an idea of what is in the game and what does each thing do.
On ns2large servers you don't have to worry about lane blocking, zoning and rotations as much.... if at all. On those servers you can purely focus on aim, movement and positioning. And basic teamplay since that is what wins the games on wooza servers (I have been told).
Another + of those servers are that you need less commander and due to the amount of players that are in those servers it doesn't take as long for a round to start.
Another + is that those large amount of players means ther is less importance in the individual aiming skill aswell.
Also from a plsychlogical point of view people will probably always join the server with the highest playernumber btw.
Anyway a competitive gamemode comes into play now. One that is altered from vanilla (ns2large) that is aimed to balanced and fun 6v6 competitive play. (Similar to what compmod + nsl mod are now). If this is an ingame implementation with an ingame matchmaking system that would function as gather and options to form teams to play in seasons then the step from vanilla to competitive is not as big. Since we have a solid playerbase thx to the ns2large servers and alot of casuals I am sure some (if not alot) of them will try to go even further and do the step into competitive. The ones who don't just stay on ns2large servers
A large casual playerbase means having a less large but still significant amount of competitive players who will play the game. Add some rankings to the match making (like the elo system we have already) and people have the feeling they progress even though they don't have a team.
This is also the time where people learn about laneblocking, zoning, rotations etc.
Btw a game with alot of players draws in more players (like gravity kinda)...
Hope that made sense... if not feel free to ask for stuff
I'm still wondering what the point of this thread is by an admin unless it's to consider shutting down the league due to lack of interest.
