Yo guys, this has been an issue being discussed lately so I'm writing a post so anybody with complaints can do so now before it's too late.
Currently as it stands, for tram warehouse alien will be fixed spawn both rounds. This is how it was before, and people seemed happy enough. Seems to make the most sense to avoid the south spawn issue.
Summit tentatively locked left/right.
Veil, mineral, jambi, descent both sides random.
This is your chance to make any comments or give feedback before the season, please keep it constructive thank.

I like aliens spawning north on tram, but I am unsure about only in warehouse.

just in case these are the conditions we played in S11:
7. Maps / Fixed Spawns
(a) The maps in the current season’s regular rotation will be:
(i) ns2_biodome
(ii) ns2_descent
(iii) ns2_jambi
(iv) ns2_summit
(v) ns2_tram
(vi) ns2_veil
(vii) ns2_nexus
(viii) ns2_mineral
(ix) ns2_mesh
(b) With the Following Fixed Spawns for the Group Play of S11:
(i) ns2_tram (Alien Warehouse Spawn both Rounds)
(ii) ns2_summit (Randomize First Round, NO Alien NORTH, then repeat same Positions)
(iii) All other Maps (Randomize First Round then repeat same Alien/Marine Positions)
(c) With the Following Fixed Spawns for the Playoffs S11:
(i) ns2_tram (Alien Warehouse spawn, both rounds)
(ii) ns2_summit (Randomize First Round, NO Alien North. Then repeat same positions)
(iii) ns2_descent (Randomize between south and north spawn then repeat same positions)
(iv) All other maps (Randomize First Round. Then repeat same Alien/Marine positions)

Why not have the spawns always be random and always lock the second round on the map to same spawns. Seems strange to do it differently per map for me. This seems to keep the game more interesting, but also fair.

Yeah Deck, so if you knew where you were gonna spawn and the other team didn't initially, a team could potentially flesh out and refine how they're going to play the start of the round (setting up gorge tunnels/pve etc or where to pressure/splits). I personally think any spawn should be playable on any map (some are more enjoyable), but in order to create a 'balanced' or 'fair' playing ground you need to have set spawns so both teams have equal time planning out opening minutes.

Lome - your idea is the most fair. I prefer my point because it still allows for diversity in the map game-play through the season and playoffs and it’s also pretty fair. Sure, the second team that plays the round on marines or aliens knows the scenario, but it’s only minutes to prepare for the round. Not days or a week before. Just because the aliens can plan a gorge tunnel, doesn’t mean they are going to win or the rounds won’t be fun.
Unless I’m not understanding lome’s position, he is suggesting set spawns for both rounds. I am suggesting set spawns only on 2nd round. Or we have the idea of different rules for different maps. What do other people prefer? Any sort of set spawns on first round is really stale imo.

My point is if you're going to do set spawns at all, it has to be set for both rounds in order for it to be "fair." Having 10 minutes before 2nd round goes live to strat/talk about exactly how you want to play the first few minutes, knowing where the other team will spawn, is an advantage.
I mean like I said I think you should be able to play from any spawn, but if you going to do forced spawns at all, make it as fair as possible then.

I agree on fixed spawns in both rounds on tram. but in my opinion it is also obvious that south spawn for aliens is way harder than a north start.
pg hub, deny et and repair hives, win!
but would be boring to see every game on tram marines building arcs instantly to get the warehouse hive...... because that is what would going to happen if we fix alien spawn to warehouse
