So is that more or less than with the old card? Sorry to inform you but the graphic card has only a little to do with ns fps, so dont expect anything too great.
New ATi cards tend struggle with NS from what I've seen, I'm not sure if new Nvidia cards do as well though. I don't know why but my 5870 just drops like a bitch around phase gates and certain areas of some maps. It creams any other game, but ns just owns it sometimes whereas my old 6800 gtx just couldn't stop giving my fps no matter what was on screen, it was a constant 125 even with 10 to 20 phase gates on screen.
i dont know my constant fps because it goes down when stuff is happening but i was able to have a constant fps on 125 before no matter how much stuff was happening and all i changed was the grafic card.
well i can say you have a really nice cpu althought you could overcloack it to atleast to 3.0 since it's intel ; )(it may be also the cause of the fps drops only 2.5 clock on cpu) and ati... is... bad. and i'm telling you this cause i used to use ati myself and now im on nvidia so i can tell the diffrence ; p
and ati is just problems.
I have a 5770 and it runs NS at high fps perfectly, 200 constant if I wanted it. The only difference between our rigs is the CPU so I guess it must be something to do with that. I have an AMD 940 Quad 3ghz @ 3.4ghz.
Metal isn't problem anymore, dunno about co_umbra & co_daimos... When I got 5770 it didnt lag or do any fps drops in metal but 4850 did. Maybe it was newer drivers or just hd5000 series.
Dynamic lighting problem (phase gate, med/ammo pack flash etc..) is still there
And for opengl.. usually yes but not always. Tere dugi ;P
Every Ati dx10 and dx11 cards (hd2900 from to hd5000 series) have this problem. Its not just ThE NS, this problem occurs in CS 1.6 and every other HL1 engine games (where is dynamic lighting.. pretty much driver problem, because my x1900xt didnt have these problems at the time but now it does).
Umm how can you not have a stable 90fps with a HD5770?
What resolution are you using? Tried turning off dynamic lightning in the game?
ATI/AMD have rewritten their OpenGL code in these latest drivers (its getting updated every release now), and many older games do not work at all because developers are not coding the detection of extensions correctly.
Nvidia have always, IMO, had (much) better openGL support. There is nothing from nvidia in the pricepoint of a HD5770 though, you´d have to look at the GTX 460 1GB cards (the 768mb versions are diffrent cards and also slower.)
Little hint (big one actually).
If you own Ati Overclock your cpu
If you own Nvidia Overclock your cpu
Your bottleneck is default Q9300. If you can't overclock much then disable 2 cores and try again. Also config tuning will help
My main comp have i5 750 & gtx460 and fps will be bad in public if I wont overclock my cpu.
I didnt have any fps problems with 5770 (expect those dynamic lights) and I think Ati have better overall fps in bigger servers like able or "le bordel" servers when there is a lot action (I will test it when I have time to do it)..
