Has there ever been any consideration for a NS2 Combat league?
Whilst I appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea, and is not as serious a side of NS as the usual - but it still might make for some interest in a league format?
I've no idea how the formalities of the league would work etc - just wondering if there would even be any interest etc?

You'd probably gain more interest for a NS2c league.
I think some kind of 2vs2combat could be OK.
But remember NS2 regular Season > combat.
If its just for fun i would like to participate with my brother ;)

there is always the chance for a one day tournament or a short cup.
variety is usually something good ^^

There used to be a 3v3 small competition in NS1 Combat with some made up rules ... I can't remember correctly but no one was really a fan iirc. It was also used as a tiebreaker in some cases ... but really it's not the same game

Yeah we should definitely not make the mistake of using combat as a tiebreaker :P
It is however a very good idea for a weekend cup! You might see this during the summer after season 2, along with other cups to entertain those not going on holidays ;)

Combat was never actually used as a tie breaker.
A NS2 combat tournament would be a joke. NS1 combat was bad enough, NS2 combat is fundamentally broken.

I stand corrected. NS1 degenerated even more than I thought during the last years apparently...

We could make up any kind of rules for such a cup. We could rule out onos and exos if that would make it more fair. I think it would be fun to see a combat cup after season 2. I would probably play it for the giggles as well. A combat cup would obviously just be a "fun cup", similar to gather cups etc.

Yeah, the whole point of my original post is "let not take this too seriously everyone but....."
Then its filled with "OMFG NSCOMBAT IS LAME - ITS NOT REAL NS!!" etc (thats how my extremely bias eyes read it anyway)
So its only for a laugh, you don't have to take part if you didn't want to!
Personally I think it would be more fun in a ladder style competition to run alongside the currently league - but appreciate that people wouldn't want it taking up too much of an admins time etc. I just would rather something run alongside the main league to be played at leisure rather than something being crammed into a weekend.

Could be an idea during the summer break as a fun cup. Depending on its outcome some could think of some form of contination but I'd doubt it ;)

If it's just for fun, then combat isn't the only potential game mode you could play. You could do:
- NS2 classic
- Marine v Marine
- The Faded
I'd love to see how some of the D1 teams would fair in something like a MvM cup :)

TaneliEpic game! Me and wltrs playing in same team and still almost losing to Team Fantasy (they used most cheapest tacs ever)!
Hey hey hey, don't belittle my tactics! Reminds me of quote from Theodore Roosevelt:
Theodore RooseveltDo what you can, with what you have, where you are.
But I overused it, I should have stopped at veil because it became too predictable and counterable. Maybe I should have read Art of War or something!
And then we play combat tiebreaker against your team gg. I knew we were going to lose that.
But it was fun game. I wish we hadn't ended it with combat though.
